2008 DUEL IN THE DESERT

	is just around the corner. And that means,

for the fifth consecutive year, the GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour is heading to the desert.

The 2008 Duel in the Desert returns to the Silver State once again for one of the most enjoyable tournaments of the entire tour season. This year, the teams will descend upon Mesquite, Nev., home to The Big Break Mesquite, currently airing on GOLF CHANNEL.

This OPEN field event will be held February 7-9 (Thurs., Fri., Sat.) and will consist of 2-person teams competing over 54 holes of golf on three different courses in three different formats: scramble, modified alternate shot and best ball.

The Duel will be played on some of the finest golf courses the area has to offer. Teams will each play one round at CasaBlanca Golf Club, Falcon Ridge Golf Club and Coral Canyon Golf Course. Players also recieve discounted rates for practice rounds on all three tournament courses.

Competitors will have their choice of stay at one of three area resorts: CasaBlanca Resort Hotel & Casino, the Eureka Casino Hotel and the Oasis Resort/Casino/Spa.

Each team will be placed in one of six flights in which to compete. Flight placement will be determined on a team handicap, which will be calculated based on each team member's handicap index (required upon registration). For more on how the team handicap is calculated, read the tournament FAQ's.
